Wind Turbine Bolt Monitoring Deployment of Offshore Wind Farm

Release Time: 2021-12-14 18:06:59

We have recently successfully deployed bolt monitoring system in a major offshore wind energy facility consisting of 70 5MW wind turbine generators.

For each wind turbine, 56 wireless bolt preload monitoring sensors, each monitoring the preload of a bolted connection, are installed on bolts of four tower flanges and three blade flanges. SAS100 sensors are used on bolts of tower flanges and the ultra-low-profile SAS120 sensors are used on bolts of blade flanges. All sensor data is transmitted to the bolt monitoring system via a single wireless gateway (model GU100P).

The installation of each wireless sensor is easy. With no cable or wiring, each sensor can be directly mounted onto the bolt head. Sensors are evenly distributed along the along the circumference of each flange.

Each sensor is designed for ultra-low power consumption and has a battery life of more than 10 years for normal usage.

User can remotely monitor the status of bolted connections through an intuitive graphic user interface, receive early warnings and alarms of bolt failures, and track progressive bolt loosening over time.
